Both systolic and diastolic pressure deal with your blood pressure. When a doctor listens for your pulse they record two different numbers. The first is the systolic pressure which is the force in the arteries when the ventricle contracts. The second number is the diastolic pressure which is the force in the arteries when the ventricle relaxes and this number is recorded when the pulse sound disappears.
