3/20 SCRIBE

Today in class we took our lab quiz. After that, we discussed Pollination (Self and Cross). Self pollination occurs when the anthers of the flower are taller than the stigma. The pollen falls onto the stigma and creates a long tube to the ovary. Cross pollination is when wind or some other factors carry one plant's pollen to another plant's stigma. Homework: National Parks projected submitted to Mrs. Stein by 7:30, Read 24.2, Muddiest Point, Comments by Thursday, POD quiz Thursday, Test Friday, and Readings on UP 3.

JoeM's Muddiest Point

My muddiest point is probably the blood typing. I'm confused as to how each type is made such as Ia and Ib make AB. And is ii the only way you can have O as your blood type?

Class on 11/30-12/1

11/30

In class today we went over our homework which was trying out the punnet squares. After we went through the homework, we partnered up and did an activity where we flipped a coin to determine the phenotypes of each item. We then drew the baby according to the traits we got. The only homework was to finish the questions that went with the baby lab.

12/1

Today in class we turned in our baby labs. After that we took a self check quiz on vocabulary and using punnet squares. We then learned about Incomplete Dominant traits which are traits that have twodominant genes with both being expressed. We then learned how to use dihybrid punnet squares.(Look down for more) Our homework is to do pages UP 33-38 and read 11.3!

Class on 10/05

Today in bio we did a couple things. The first thing we did was a Diffusion Lab. We took a cellophane tube, which acted as the cell membrane, and we filled it with 20 drops of starch and 5 drops of glucose. We submerged it in 400 mL of water and let the tube sit for 15 minutes. While the tube was sitting, we learned about the cell (plasma) membrane and how it was selectivley permeable. This quicly led back into the lab we were doing. We went back to the lab tables and dipped a piece of tes tape in the water. This proved there was glucose present in the water. Then, we looked at the tube which was purple/blue which meant the starch was still in it. This showed us how the Cell Membrane is selectively permeable by letting the glucose through while keeping the starch in. Tonights homework is to 1) finish the lab questions, 2) finish the enzyme prelab, and 3) STUDY for the quiz on cell parts!

Unit 1 Reflection

Unit 1 was pretty fun. To me it was kind of challenging, though, because all of the microscope parts confused me a lot. I thought that looking at all of the different organisms under the microscope was awesome because it's a whole different world under that lense. The Tetrahymena lab was interesting to me. Our group didn't get too far, but the changes in the numbers of vacuoles really shocked me. I already knew what the jumping beans were but I liked seeing what affected their activity. Unit 1 was a good unit, let's hope for more good units.

My First Post: Chris Young

Chris Young is an up and coming countrymusic artist. The start of his career was winning "Nashville Star" in 2006. He went on tour with the show, then went on his own tour as a starter. He is currently with RCA records. He was born in Murfreesboro, Tenessee which is close to Nashville. His birthday is June 12, 1985. His #1 song in 2010 was "The Man I Wanna Be." His video for his song "Voices" has his actual family in it. He was raised by his mom and stepfather, who is dad to him. He's said to be the next George Strait. He's a really good country singer.

Something I'm excited about for this school year is having a lot more people to meet.

Something I'm not excited about is the amount of homework.
