Black holes

My older sister told me about black holes creating a galaxy. I didn't know about that so I looked it up. It turned out to be true. Upon looking through this, I found some official sites that say black holes can probably be wormholes to alternate universes, which might show that there's a possibility of a multiverse and that the black hole is a bridge between those universes through what scientists call 'dark flow.' They also think black holes may be the origin of the big bang theory. The big bang theory is an effort to explain what happened at the very beginning of the universe. One thought was that a black hole that exploded creating a shock wave of matter in the universe to create the expanding space into infinity and leaving behind a finite amount of matter. A white hole in short. For now we accept these events as singularities, things that happen beyond the human comprehension. Space is amazing, and the fact that formulas so simple can have a huge impact on the universe show that there is so much we still do not know.

My First Post: Chris Young

Chris Young is an up and coming countrymusic artist. The start of his career was winning "Nashville Star" in 2006. He went on tour with the show, then went on his own tour as a starter. He is currently with RCA records. He was born in Murfreesboro, Tenessee which is close to Nashville. His birthday is June 12, 1985. His #1 song in 2010 was "The Man I Wanna Be." His video for his song "Voices" has his actual family in it. He was raised by his mom and stepfather, who is dad to him. He's said to be the next George Strait. He's a really good country singer.
Something I'm excited about for this school year is having a lot more people to meet.
Something I'm not excited about is the amount of homework.

Manchester City F.C. First Blog
This here is the logo of my favorite football club.
I love Manchester City this club has changed from the old days where Manchester City was a bad team they would wind up losing a lot of games and I didn't like them at that time. 3 years ago in the summer of 2008 Manchester City was sold to Abu Dhabi United Group. After the Takeover the club purchased Robinho a brazilian forward from the spanish La Liga Great Real Madrid C.F. after that year the team signed many new people. they signed Kolo Toure, Gareth Barry,Emmanuel Adebayar, Carlos Tevez, and Joleon Lescott. all of these players were starting lineups for them. after a year the start of the 2010-2011 season they signed David Silva, Yaya Toure (brother of Kolo), James Milner , Aleksander Kolarov, Mario Balotelli, and Jerome Boateng. then they finished 5 in the league. which they improved from last year. This year they signed Edin Dzeko a Bundes Liga top scorer in 2010, Sergio Aguero striker from Argentina , Samir Nasri a midfielder from France and Gael Clichy a Left Back from France. this has been the most signings of a three year period in football history and I was glad that now Manchester City has some chance of winning titles. Thats how they improved from bad club to a great club with many individual talents. they have been far doing well this season 2nd so far on the list and hope to win some champions this year they have promised fans with a better team and hopefully they can do good this year.
EXITED- Freedom that GBS provides

My favorite sport is soccer and i just love the sport as you don't need much equipment to play it for fun and it is a worldwide sport that everybody plays.
This site gives you a lot of information about the basics of soccer in general:
http://library.thinkquest.org/3903/
Here are some quotes i learned from playing soccer:
1. "Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it."- Mia Hamm
2. "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." - Pele
3. “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of knowledge,
but a lack of will.” - Vince Lombardi
What i love about going to high school is all the freedom and responsibilities.
What i hate about going to high school is the homework.

Hockey
Hockey is my favorite sport I play for the majority of my fall, winter and spring. Its the longest season out of most sports I know because it consumes 3/4 of my year. I play hockey for the Glenview Stars and I currently am a Bantam major. I sacrifice my social life to play hockey becasue it consumes most of my freetime that usually i'd be spending with my friends. I don't really care though because I love the sport alot. Everytime i'm on the ice it feels like I belong here and kind of like a home away from home. I play hockey in my free time outside with my brother or go to a pond or Johns park and play on those rinks there. If there is one place a person belongs I think my place is the Ice Rink.

Brooklyn C's First Post-Johnny Weir
Although he may be an unusual person, Johnny Weir has always been my idol. Born in a small town in Pennsylvania, it wasn't until johnny was 12 did he experience the wonderful world of figure skating. Only four years after teaching himself how to skate on a frozen pond in his backyard did he win the gold medal at the 2001 World Junior Championships. Johnny Weir won his first senior US national championship in 2004 and defended that title until 2006 earning him a spot on the US Olympic team. In his first Olympic appearance he placed second on his short program and landed in an overall place of fifth! Johnny has been extremely successful since then even going to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Johnny Weir has won many more titles and has been awarded the Reader's Choice Award for Skater of the Year twice, the only other skater to win this more than once aside from Michelle Kwan. Figure skating has been a huge part of my life since I was seven and Johnny Weir has become my favorite skater of them all. I love how he becomes a character when he is performing and is his own unique person. My favorite performance of Johnny's was his short program skate at the 2010 US Championship. Here is the video of his performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ4atQjCSHI Something that I am excited about for this school year: having the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
Something that I am not excited about for this school year: the amount of time I will spend on homework.

Volleyball
One of the things I enjoy doing on my free time is playing volleyball. This is a sport both girl and boys play and it is played at all levels. There are always 6 players on the court at one time. Each player has a different position ranging from a middle hitter, usually the tallest on the court, to a libero, usually the shortest on the court. There are many different rules to the game from overlapping on the court to no jewelry or hard clips in your hair. One of the most complicated rules is overlapping. On the court there different rotations that you can run. There are 6 zones on the court, starting in the back right corner with zone one and going all the way around to the middle back with zone 6. Each player cannot overlap the person in front of them or behind them on a serve receive or a serve, if they do the ball goes to the other team and the other team gets a point. It took me two years to finally understand most of the rules, but everyones different
The position I play is libero or defensive specialist. I am one of the shortest players on my team, therefore I am always playing in the back row. I am one of the players that digs up balls that are either hit or tipped by the other team onto our half of the court. The libero is also the only player that can switch onto the court without having to wait at the 10 foot line to sub in. One of the reasons they can do this is because they switch for only two players, the middles. They also have a different colored jersey than the rest of the team. I love playing volleyball and spending time with my teammates!
Most excited about: A few of the things I am most excited about are sports and meeting new people!
Least excited about: Some of the things I am least excited about are taking finals and the homework load compared to last year!

GabbyM's First Post- Kopalnia Soli Wielicka
Over the summer, I visited Poland with my family and we stayed with my grandparents in Wieliczka. While we were there my mom decided to take my brothers and me to the Kopalina Soli, or Salt Mine, since it was only a couple blocks away from where we were staying.
This particular Salt Mine was discovered during the 13 century. The mine contains 5 levels, but turists can only visit the first 3 because the lower levels are dangerous if you aren't wearing the right equipment. While we were on the tour through the mine, we saw many chapels and sculptures created by the miners that had worked there.
One thing that stood out to me the most during the tour was Saint Kinga's Chapel. This chapel is located on Level 2 and it took over a hundred years to be created. It took so long because only 3 self taught miners created this chapel. Everything in this chapel is made of salt, starting from the floor to the walls and the ceiling. Also, the alter at the front of the chapel, cross, and the stairs leading into the chapel are all sculpted from salt. Even the chandeliers are made with small salt crystals. The chapel walls are decorated with beautiful sculptures that show New Testament scenes. All I can say is that this chapel is more gorgeous in real life. If you get offered an opportunity to visit this Salt Mine take it. It is such a unique experience and you learn a lot of interesting things that you may not have know before.
To learn more about Saint Kinga's Chapel visit the Salt Mine's official website here: www.kopalnia.pl/site.php?action=site&urlMain=2,185,1,853,,&&idsite=185&level=853

AndyD's First Post~Oprah!
This is my idol, the one and only Oprah Winfrey! The famous multi-millionaire talk show host who's generosity and words of wisdom have made her be known across the nation. Oprah grew up in a poor rural town of Mississippi, poverty stricken she and her family struggled through life and eventually moved to Milwaukee where she was raised as a teen. Oprah also experienced many hardships through her childhood claiming to be sexually assaulted at age nine and pregnant at the age of fourteen ( her son died in infancy). Oprah eventually became involved in broadcasting in high school which led her to begin her own talk show. Anyway, Oprah was also known as one of the most generous people in the world. What she gave away on her show and donated to others in need was unreal. My 6th grade science teacher that is in love with Oprah was a witness of all this. She and other audience members were brought outside the studio to a parking lot to receive brand new cars, from this you can tell that Oprah is a very generous and giving person. After many years the legendary talk show host decided to stop broadcasting shows, however she wouldn't leave all her fans behind like that. Oprah then started her own television network called OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). The OWN network features a variety of shows but are nothing compared to a talk show with Oprah. As you can see Oprah is a very kind, caring, and generous person that likes to give to others things she never had while going through life.
Excited~ Meeting new people and learning new things, 1 step closer to being finished with school.

gliese 581g
After 11 years of NASA research a red dwarf star, gliese 581g has been looked at a lot closer and it is pretty much another Earth. After looking at pictures of it I thought it was just a picture of Earth but it's not.
This planet is not freezing like all the planets past mars that range from -200 through -400 degrees. And it is not hot like Venus and Mercury that are in the 800's.
It has been said that Mars has dry river beds and other dried up bodies of water which once supported life. The only water on Mars is frozen from the cold which at its lowest is -190 degrees.
Here's a more detailed article from NASA about this http://www.nasa.gov/topics/universe/features/gliese_581_feature.html
This could be interesting if we lived there but it is 20 light years away. so if we traveled at the speed of light for 20 years then there we go.
I'm excited about...
Passing this class and getting it over with.
I'm not excited about...
Having to do work.
