My muddiest point is the sticky ends. When the circle gets cut does anything get taken out of it, or does the section of DNA only get added?

Marfan Syndrome

The Marfan Syndrome is a defect in your gene that makes the fibrillin 1 an important protein for connection tissue. This defect takes place in the chromosome 15. There are many ways to identify a person with Marfans Syndrome. Everyone who is effected with this has at least three features in different parts of the body. Many symptoms are...
  1. Long legs
  2. Long arms
  3. Curved spine (hunch back)
  4. Long, thin fingers
  5. Near sighted
  6. Stretch marks on skin
There is no easy way to tell if you have this syndrome, there is no easy bloo
d test you have to be evaluated by a doctor. There is no cure but there is therapies that can limit complications. The way you would get these treatments is by seeing specialized doctors that would make an individualized program. The life expectancy for a person with this disease is just a little bit under the normal life expectancy. This disorder is pretty uncommon one in every six thousand babies is born with Marfan. And there is no difference in babies born with Marfin in different ethnicities.

Today in class we got our disease of the day which was TUBERCULOSIS. It is a bacteria that is spread through the air by people and can be treated with antibiotics. after that we were abled to go to a lab station to do a little lab/homework. You should have been abled to finish it in class but if you didnt you still had time at home. This is what we did in class.

My first post

Sonya Thomas has gotten the name "black widow" from her buffalo wing eating contests. she crushes the men and therefore got her name. She won first place at the 10th annual National Buffalo Wings Festival this year. She managed to eat 183 chicken wings in 12 minutes, breaking her own world record. I don't know about any of u but i get full after 10 wings, and this girl can eat 183!!!! That is almost impossible!

Unit One Reflection

My reflection on unit one was pretty good. I liked biology it was very interesting and you had to stay on your toes or u would miss something. I learned a lot of new things and im happy i did. it might not look like it but i like to learn :) its fun. Biology is the study of life how can that not interest you? I cant wait for ecology to come because it sounds like a unit i will like even more than biology. Altho that will be hard.

Muddiest point

My muddiest point! My muddiest point is the energy pyramid. I understand that only ten percent of the energy from each organism is transferred to the other organism that eats it. The part i don't understand is were does the other 90% go? does it just Disappear? It doesn't make any sense to me please help...

Today in biology we learned about invasive species. An invasive species is an animal or organism that doesnt belong but is placed in an area. An example of an invasive species would be a zebra mussel.

We also went over the differences in biospheres, biomes, communities, populations, and the organism. All of these that we went over go from one organism, to many organims, than to the whole world. We reviewed what herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores were while learned the food webs. Normally at the rop of the food web there is only one species because there is less energy being transferred. at the end of class, we checked on our duckweed and had to count all of the new leaves that it has grown. Don't forget to finish the bean lab. Get it done!!!

MICHEAL M is the next scribe!!!
