What is the function of a cortex in a root? Also, what is the function of a vascular cylinder? I know that if there is a vascular cylinder, it is a root, but I don't know the function of it.
The cortex basically stores things needed for the plant. The vascular cylinder has the xylem (transports water) and the phloem (transports food). So, it function is to transport water and food. Hope this helps!
