Muddiest Point

My muddiest point is the difference between chordates and vertebrates. How can all vertebrates be chordates, but not all chordates be vertebrates?

  1. Vertebrates have a backbone while chordates had the characteristic of having a backbone at one point of their life. To be a chordate you need a backbone at any time in life while to be a vertebrate, you need it throughout life. Its hard to explain.
